Every Fake Nail Left Behind

Welcome to this weeks R.E.P.O.R.T., New York fashion week edition! As amazing and fun as NYFW seemed it was actually fueled by $4 for 10 dumplings every single night, 2-4 hours of sleep and about 3 mental breakdowns. Don’t get me wrong though this is a dream for me and as much as I complain, I live for the hustle of it all. This time around I thought I was much better prepared but with little to no idea about my itinerary for each day I was left once again doing fashion week the way I do it best: delusional.

From unknowly carrying around a cockroach in my dress that kept me company for 5 hours to 100 degree weather and braving the torentual downpour between showrooms. I was able to enjoy the dichotomy between gender and dress at the Palomo Spain show, the whimsical movement of the models at the Tara Babylon, shed a tear at the Nardos show over the detail that went into every gown (brought to you by the open bar) and experience the true meaning of feminine rage and womanhood at the Elena Velez show. And for that I am grateful.

Proposing to my cousin with a lip tattoo (its legal where we live) - Drew Phillips

Let’s be honest, I did not read this past week. I didn’t even consume any content other than watching this 17 minute long video about 3 times and then again in 2x speed. I also sent it to various people in my life reminding them that this is indeed my comfort video and hoping someone, anyone, would relate. Watching this video just reminds me that there are people out there who share my same kind of humor, and if you’re one of those people please reach out to me.

TabeTomo - East Village

I was lucky enough to have my co-worker and dear friend Mervat whisk me away to TabeTomo after the Cucculelli Shaheen show at the Manhattan municipal building that was actually pretty underwhelming compared to their last show at Webster Hall. Don’t you dare call me a gatekeeper because I gave up my best kept secret and now it’s a favorite for you and all your friends. My roommate and I stumbled across TabeTomo 3 years ago after sitting down at another ramen restaurant nearby and finding the vibes to be very unsettling so we decided to give this place a try. The limited seasonal seafood tsukemen here is actually the most amazing thing I have ever eaten. And unlike other ramen you can take this to-go and enjoy it just as much if not more. If Tabetomo were to ever close I will spend the rest of my life searching for this. I have nothing else to say, this 60 hour broth speak for itself. Enjoy.

Hauteline - https://www.thehauteline.com/

On the eve of NYFW my friend Vanessa invited me to attend an event for the launch of her friend, Kristie Chow’s company Hauteline. In recent times I’ve been more inclined to rent for events because I hate splurging for one thing but I always regret not being able to dress how I want to. My friends told me to check out other companies that rent clothes, mainly dresses, but I could never find anything that I actually wanted to spend the money to rent. That really changed after discovering Hauteline, because they carry great brands, offer a practical price point and process to renting. I can’t wait to rent something for my birthday or hopefully something sooner so I can try out Hauteline for myself ASAP.

The event was filled with the coolest girls and I really enjoyed speaking with everyone that night. It’s rare to see so many interesting and well dressed people who were all so kind and willing to intermingle in NYC. Kristie gave a speech towards the end of the night about how she’s just another business shooting her shot in NYC but her hard working and kind aura brought me to tears as she spoke and I found myself extremely proud of a girl whom I’ve never met. I wish her all the luck in the world and can’t wait to support her business myself.

Below you can find some of my favorite pieces from her site as well as the experience the vibe for yourself of her successful launch party.

Treat 〰️

Angel Therapy is pretty good. The packaging makes me incredibly happy even though I don’t really pay attention to angel numbers, I was born at 4:44. The fact that it’s pretty and pink is enough of a reason to buy it, also given that it’s being sold at the Union Square Travel Agency which was my first time ever buying weed from a dispensary. This was definitely a treat for me since I didn’t smoke until the last day of fashion week when I was finally able to relax.
